Some things to be aware of before you begin EDAL670

• Textbook. You must have ordered and received the textbook. The textbook is:

  Picciano, Anthony G. (2002, 2006). Educational Leadership and Planning for Technology, (3rd or 4th Edition). Columbus, OH: Merrill. An outline the book's content is foundhere. This book is available from Barnes and Noble or from Amazon.Com. You will need to order this book directly from either of these book sellers.

• D2L Tutorial. This is a MUST place to visit. You must familiarize yourself with D2L and how using this program will work with EDAL670. You can Login to the Andrews D2L site here. Once inside you can take the D2L tutorial. You will aslo find a tutorial here.

• Internet Tutorial. If you are not familiar with the Internet, this is a great site for all kinds of help..

• E-Mail Policy. This is an important note to all students regarding the use of e-mail addresses. You will need to be aware that by enrolling in EDAL670 your e-mail address will be made available to on-line tutor(s), technical and administration support staff and students within your tutorial support group as part of the normal delivery process for these courses. The release of e-mail addresses to persons other than those listed is forbidden unless written permission of the student is obtained.

• Technical Requirements: In order to take web-based, on-line classes, you need access to the following:
  • a 486 processor, or better, or comparable processor for Macintosh
  • a 66 MHz or faster processor
  • a 28.8 KBPS modem, or faster
  • 16mb of RAM, or greater (to run Netscape)
  • 14mb hard drive space (for browser)
  • Netscape Communicator 4.0, or higher (or equivalent browser)
  • an Internet Service Provider (ISP)
  • active e-mail account
  Students are responsible for purchasing and maintaining all computer hardware and software required for their participation in this on-line courses. Students may use Internet Explorer as their browser.

• Andrews University Computers and Network Usage Policy. As a part of its educational mission, Andrews University provides data communications and computing services to University students, faculty, administration, and staff.

  • For this class especially, certain activities are considered inappropriate use of computing facilities. These include electronic chain letters, pyramid schemes, mass-mailing of unsolicited e-mail and "spamming". Spamming refers to the mass postage of a single message to multiple Newsgroups regardless of whether the message is relevant to each groups topic.
