Planning for technology can be overwhelming. It
can sometimes be frustrating and confusing. This week and next, we will work
through a Technology Planning website with lots of excellent tools, designed
"For Administrators, by administrators".
Often technology plans are conceived from the
perspective of only a few individuals. Sometimes this results in duplication of
effort or worse still, conflicts down the road, because individuals have not
been fully involved in the process. Often, this lack of coordination costs
money and wastes time and other resources. By pursuing a seamless, integrated
approach, various management programs and legal responsibilities are also taken
into account thus increasing the probability of a highly successful technology
program.
Let's begin our exploration this week by looking
at this site and
working through some of the tools. I would like you to look first at this site
http://www.portical.org/barnett_intro.html
and then work through this section: "Monitoring and Evaluating Your Technology
Plan" - How to make sure your technology plan is implemented and works.
