INTRODUCTION
A warm and friendly welcome to
Module 1.1 of EDAL670 "Technology for Leaders".
Let me say that this week will be a busy week as
you begin the task of adjusting to taking a course on-line. Although you will
be adjusting to many new activities and ways of learning, the course really
will be fun and the interaction with other students from across North America
will be intellectually invigorating.
If you have any questions (no matter how stupid
they may sound...let me emphasize that by saying it again....no matter how
stupid they may sound) do not hesitate to e-mail me at
jimjeff@andrews.edu.
I normally check my e-mail at least 15-20 times
a day and will be very happy to answer any questions. We are here to help and
will respond in a short period. PLEASE, PLEASE remember that there are no "dumb
questions" as far as I'm concerned. So please ask about anything that may be
unclear.
So let's begin with some expectations for this
module's work.
- I hope that you have read thoroughly the
First Things First section. It is essential that you
know how to work in the D2L environment.
- Each module will be broken down
into 3 parts:
- Notes
- Readings,
- Weekly Assignments,
- You will need to read the Notes and Readings
section for the week.
- So, let's ease into the world of
technology.
What is "technology" and why
should it be important for leaders to understand? And why should leaders be
interested in promoting technology? What are the major issues surrounding
technology and institutions? What impact is technology having in the workplace?
Where are we headed? What must leaders need to know to keep up with the flood
of "technology?
These are some of the major questions that we
will look at over the next 15 weeks.
