Update from Niels-Erik Andreasen on the United Way campaign at Andrews University
Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008

Dear Andrews University Family,

We have reached 47% of our campus goal of $12,000 with less than two weeks left to raise the rest—but I know we can do it!

If you have not already done so, I invite you to join in the campus-wide commitment to the United Way, which shares our commitment to reach out and Change the World. If you need a pledge form, please contact Dalry Payne (dalry@andrews.edu or 471-3100). You can pledge an amount per pay period, a make a one-time gift by payroll deduction or you can direct your gift to United Way by check or credit card. Please return completed forms (and checks, if applicable) to the President’s Office.

Thank you in advance for your prayerful consideration of how you might participate in this year’s United Way campaign. We will keep you posted on the progress!

Sincerely yours,
Niels-Erik Andreasen

Horn Museum Exhibit Featuring Shabtis
What type of service would you perform if you knew that when the king you served died, you would be killed as well in order to be buried with him and serve him in the afterlife? In ancient Egypt, scholars are still not sure if this happened in the earlier Dynasties. What they do know is that hundreds of tiny figurines were buried with the deceased that were to represent their servants. These small figures, called "Shabtis" ("Ushabits" during the Late Period and following), are featured this week at the Horn Archaeological Museum located between Apple Valley and the University Medical Center on Old Hwy 31. The museum is open Sabbath afternoons from 3-5 p.m. For more information, contact the museum during regular business hours at 269-471-3273. (Posted 11/17/08)
